How to open an MRI or CT CD on a Mac (or without a CD drive)
The viewer on your imaging CD doesn't run on Mac? Here is how to view your MRI or CT images on a Mac, or on a computer without a CD drive.
Why the CD doesn't open
The viewer included on most imaging CDs is a Windows program. On a Mac, you only see folders and a DICOMDIR file.
No CD drive?
Use an inexpensive USB drive, ask a relative, or ask your imaging center for a download link or a USB copy.
View the images in your browser
Copy the CD content to your Mac, then drag the folder into scans.me. The images are read in your browser and grouped by exam and series automatically.
Store, view and share your medical images.
